No One Who Lived Through The Threat Of Nuclear
Annihilation Will Ever Be Able To Forget The Cold War!

Throughout World War II the United States and the Soviet Union were allies. But with the fall of Germany, America cemented its hold on Western Europe and the Iron Curtain descended on the East. A third World War seemed inevitable - but could the world survive? World leaders were terrified that a conflict could cause the end of the world!

I use the Internet for purchasing goods I require from anywhere in the world I can get the best deal. (I consider the world my supermarket, or mega mall).

I expect a premier service by using the Internet method as I am dealing in cash with every transaction, but seldom receive the service I expect.

My dealings with a2zcds.com do fit in to my expectations of service profile of e-shopping and exceed these expectations in after sales service and customer care skills. Thanks again!

This must be the true essence of the Internet since its inception! (I have been using the Internet since the 1980s).

Ken Caldecott, United Kingdom (kc2com@yahoo.com)

How Did The Cold War Begin?

The Soviet Union pushed out the Germans from Eastern Europe during World War II. After the war, the leaders of the Soviet Union refused to withdraw from the territory it acquired during the war and brought the people under their control. America feared that this was part of a communist agenda for world domination! They felt that Soviet actions required a serious response to protect freedom, democracy and capitalism. The United States responded to the Soviet threat. The Cold War had begun!

These Films were Created by Some of the Best
Production Houses of the Time!

This 2-DVD set has some of the great production houses of the era such as Affiliated Film Producers, Ray (Reid H.) Film Industries, Fairbanks Production and the U.S. Army Pictorial Center providing glimpses of the Cold War era.

Secure the Blessings
This film shows how American schoolchildren were taught the value of democracy, freedom and good citizenship. This film also stands out from most pro-America short films of its era because instead of rabid pro-capitalist and/or anti-communist hysteria, it looks at how Americans could solve shared problems through education, discussion, objective thought and consensus. It explains that education is the key to the future of democracy.

Tragedy or Hope
This film is structured as a narrative, where John Smith's ancestors educate him about "what's right with America" in hopes of leading him away from "the road to anarchy and self-destruction." There are many bits of archival footage in this film. It begins with a brief discussion of "radical speakers who are subsidized by communists" and moves from these scenes of "mass hysteria" to extended montages which depict all the wonders of American capitalist society.
